Anthem Opportunity Way Park

Phoenix, Arizona

The new 10-acre park was recently completed for west side Anthem residents. The park site is owned by three separate partners-Anthem Community Council, Parkside HOA, and EPCOR, which is the local private water and wastewater provider. The project presented complex design challenges and the design was developed by EPG to fulfill each partner’s big purposes. The first, was to address the need for more multi-use fields and to benefit the community’s need for fun! The park includes multi-use sports fields, a half basketball court, a playground area, shady ramadas, a restroom building, parking, pathways, and landscaping.

Second, the park tops off an active effluent recharge system. This unique feature of the park means that half of the soccer field area is over an EPCOR owned underground effluent recharge facility. The remainder of the grass area was constructed over a 25’ deep effluent recharge basin that was decommissioned by EPCOR, given back to Anthem, and filled in as a part of the project. This park was funded by the Anthem Community Council and built by Haydon Building Corp. for the north Phoenix community.
